Excursion 1: Fanefjord Church and Cliffs of Møn (Southern Zealand)
9.15 Departure from Copenhagen
10.45-12.00 Fanefjord Church. The church is decorated with a rich series of paintings (about 1500) by the Master of Elmelunde. The paintings suffer severely from salt decay and a conservation action is ongoing at the time of the conference. An introduction to the paintings, the salt decay and the conservation is given.
13.15-14.45 Cliffs of Møn. The cliffs of Møn are a unique natural phenomenon: not only are the steep cliffs dramatic but the forest and the open areas are also beautiful. Visit at the Geo Center (http://www.moensklint.dk/default.asp?sprog=uk&menuID=) and walk in the beautiful landscape ( http://www.visiteastdenmark.com/international/en-gb/menu/turist/nature/scenicsensations/cliffs-of-moen/cliffs-of-moen.htm)
